Quick Puran


Introduction:

Making Puran is a quite time consuming and multi step process. What if you get to make it in just three simple steps? yup this quick puran gets ready in less than 30 minutes.

Ingredients:
1 cup Split Chana Dal
2 1/2 cups Water
1 cup grated Jaggery / Gul
1/4 tsp Nutmeg powder
1/2 tsp Cardamom powder




Method
Wash chana dal well under cold water and soak dal in water for 6 hours.
After dal is soaked, put dal in to pressure cooker along with water in which dal was soaked.
Cover and pressure cook dal until 3 to 4 whistles.
Once dal is cooked completely, take potato masher and mash dal well, yo make it very soft and smooth.
Now take mashed dal in to microwave safe bowl, add jaggery to it and mix well.
Microwave dal on high power for 5 mts.
After 5 mts, take the bowl out from microwave and mix well.
Again put the bowl back in microwave and cook for 3 more mts.
Remove bowl and again give that a good mix.
Add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and mix well.
Voila Puran is ready!

Tips
Everyone's microwave is different so try to adjust cooking time accordingly.
Use grated jaggery, so that it will incorporate well with the dal.
Puran stays good in refrigerator up to a week, so you can make it ahead of time.
